Took about a year since the Part 2 was released (in capsule forms) and this supposedly high quality diorama vigenette series had it's ups (Pooh & Pinocchio from Primo; Nightmare before X'mas in Secondo) and it's lows (Steamboat Willie from Primo & the rest of Secondo); however it did have Disney and non-Disney collectors raving for it all along. When the preview picture of the 3rd instalment was released, it definitely garner enough interest from the supporting collectors. Each piece has it's individual catalogue with instructions to fix up the respective pieces. |

Beauty & the BeastThis 1991 production was nominated for the "Best Pictures" in the Academy Awards that year is perhaps one of the best cinematic animated feature we have seen during those time. A beautiful designed and crafted piece with Belle and the Beast enjoying a dance and falling in love. One of the easiest to fix in this set. While fixing it, you will notice how intricate the sculptor has gone through to fix this vignette nicely together especially the pair of characters have to dance gracefully. They are of course some minor blemishes like the long peg on Belle's right hand was supposed to insert deep within Beast's palm but evidently not possible. Beast's left limb tends to fall off easily as well. The paintjob is pretty clean and soothing (except the base in which kind of too glossy).

101 Dalmatians"101 Dalmatians" was premiered in 1961 which talks about a litter of dalmatian pups been abducted by the minions of Cruella De Vil which might be used for some diabolical fashion purpose. This piece is extremely rare in an entire bag of capsules. I like the fact that the sculptor did not neglect the rear of the vignette, giving it a true 3D feel as you will see the grey bricks and pipings which is an indication of the external of the apartment; the main shortcoming to me is the fact that the piece lean backwards. Although there are no 101 pups here but the amount are sure a handful to feature with my pictures. The one on the window ledge is the most adorable to me. The other details like the TV, window pane & the photo frames on the wall really impress me as well. |

Mickey's Band Concert (B)"The Band Concert" is a 1935 Disney cartoon in which Mickey Mouse is conductor of an outdoor orchestra. They were harrassed from completing their performance by the likes of Donald Duck, a bee and even a tornado as seen in this vignette. The beginning of the pair of vignettes which are my least fave in this set. Nice idea to have Mickey conducting in the middle of a tornado while the percussionist, Horace Horsecollar vociferously hammering his drums. Poor sculpting in certain parts like the wooden pillar on which a ripped shelter top was flapping. It was supposed to connect by the string of percussion metal plates which could never be pegged tightly together.

Mickey's Band Concert (A)One interesting thing to note about this feature was that viewers got to see Mickey Mouse for the first time in Technicolor. I actually prefer this piece over the previous one. Sculpt-wise, this "A" piece is much better at least the cowbells are more well-secured between the wooden pillar. Mickey looks not a wee bit pleased with the tornado hindering the progession of his orchestra while Goofy on trombone is been nearly blown away. The fact that Mickey's conductor hat and some of the scores been blown away in the same direction of the ripped shelter top indicates the amount of thoughtful dynamicism the sculptor has instill in this piece.

Peter Pan (B)Peter Pan is the fourteenth animated feature in the Disney animated features canon. It was produced by Walt Disney Productions and was originally released to theaters on February 5, 1953. First half of my favorite vignette of this set portrays Wedny and her brothers, John & Micheal in total exhilaration with their first flying experience with Peter Pan and Tinkerbell around the Big Ben in London all the way to Neverland. Had to follow strictly to the instructions especially for the clouds which can be a bit bewildering. A pretty stable piece, meaning parts don't drop off easily. The Big Ben is elegant done but as you can see the sculptor didn't plan for the rear as it just cut off behind. The characters look exactly from the cartoon and details like Johnny's umbrella & Micheal's Teddy bear are included. Superb paintjob on the cloud and Big Ben.

Peter Pan (A)Its story is based on the play and novel Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie and it is the first production to have a male actor playing the title role. Amazing vignette showing Peter and Tinkerbell soaring out of the skies of London. Beside the excellent paintjob as mentioned before 2 features really captivated me. Firstly is the birdseye view of London with Big Ben prominent on the background. Despite the minute size, it still is very 3 dimensional. The 2nd feature is the nice sparkling trail Tinkerbell left while flying. It is very elegantly expressed. However unlike the previous piece, teh sculpt here is not that fantastic and the clouds have the tendecny to fall out of places.

The Mickey's Band Concert pair can be merged into a complete vigenette with certain parts included as well as taking certain parts like the conductor's podium and fix elsewhere. The curvy cowbells and percussions from the 2 parts can be connected to form a full strings of percussions. |

Likewise the Peter Pan parts can form into a full complete vignette with Peter Pan and Tinkerbell joining the siblings to fly around the Big Ben. fortunately I have instructions given from kind Katoots members, if not I don't think I would be able to assemble the full vignette. Very innovative recreation of scene using existing clouds though some clouds are been excluded and there is a new Micheal piece for this purpose. However the clouds have a problem to hold into place firmly in this full vignette. I really like the full sparkling trail through the clouds from Tinkerbell of course. |
